The authors argue that in order to understand Texas politics and government today, we must understand how they have evolved over time. In addition, the authors provide a plethora of boxed features designed to engage students in debates over key political issues, in critical thinking, and in the current and historical political climate of their state.

Analyzing Visuals: A Brief Guide is a primer that appears in the front of the text that provides the guidelines students need to analyze and interpret the different types of visual information they'll encounter as students and as citizens.
