Description

This compact, paperback volume offers a wealth of lessons, activities, and teaching materials for preservice and inservice teachers alike.

Inquiry Lessons for Constructing Understanding constitutes the second half of the “parent” text, Teaching Science for All Children, 4/e–in other words, Part II: “Inquiry Lessons for Teaching Science. The two introductory chapters provide information on the 4-E learning cycle, proper science concept formation, and some science safety essentials (Ch. 1) as well as how to apply educational technology to the classroom (Ch. 2). In addition, each lesson is correlated with the grade levels and concepts recommended by the NSES framework.

Features

  • Contains more than 50 complete science lessons, organized according to the disciplines identified by the NSES: life, physical, and earth and space sciences.
  • These lessons contain more than 150 different activities that encourage hands-on/minds-on student activity and stimulates high levels of concept formation.
  • All lessons have been classroom tested by the authors.
  • The authors show how the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) are applied to teaching each of the science lessons in Chapter 3.

New To This Edition

  • Each lesson now features a leading inquiry question, to help guide students in learning the concepts of the activity.
  • Reflects the most up to date coverage of educational technology and NETS standards.
  • Six new lessons have been added, on topics including pollution, air, magnets, and simple circuits.
