Author Bios

Donna L. Leach Ed.D., MT(ASCP) is Associate Professor and Chair of the Clinical Laboratory Science Department at Winston-Salem State University. She received her BS in Medical Technology and BA in Chemistry from Rhode Island College, her MS in Management from Troy State University and Ed.D. in Higher Education from Texas Tech University. Dr. Leach has published numerous articles in Clinical Laboratory Science publications and co-authored the cover story for the September 2000 issue of Medical Laboratory Observer, entitled, "Bioterrorism: Is Your Laboratory Ready?" Dr. Leach is also a Captain in the United States Air Force Reserves.

Denny G. Ryman Ed.D., MT (ASCP) is Assistant Professor of Clinical Laboratory Science at Winston-Salem State University. He received his AS in biology from Ferrum College, BS in biology from James Madison University, MS in microbiology from the University of Arkansas, his Ed.D. in human services administration from the University of Sarasota and a certificate in medical technology from Antaeous Institute of Arkansas. Dr. Ryman has held staff and supervisory medical technology positions at several hospitals including the University of Virginia. Dr. Ryman co-developed the first Internet CLS undergraduate program in the nation and was awarded a grant to study breast cancer tumor markers by the Department of the Army.
