Description

The Tenth Edition of Physiology of Behavior continues its tradition as the most comprehensive, current, and teachable text for physiological psychology.

This revision of a classic text incorporates the latest discoveries in the rapidly changing fields of neuroscience and physiological psychology and offers the most comprehensive and integrative coverage of research and theory in contemporary behavioral neuroscience.

Thoughtfully organized, it offers scholarly, yet accessible coverage and effectively emphasizes the dynamic interaction between biology and behavior. Collaboration with a talented artist has provided beautiful, accurate, and informative full-color illustrations that further enhance the appeal to both students and professors alike.

Features

Create a Custom Text: For enrollments of at least 25, create your own textbook by combining chapters from best-selling Pearson textbooks and/or reading selections in the sequence you want.  To begin building your custom text, visit www.pearsoncustomlibrary.com. You may also work with a dedicated Pearson Custom editor to create your ideal text–publishing your own original content or mixing and matching Pearson content. Contact your Pearson Publisher’s Representative to get started.

Demonstrate the dynamic interaction between biology and behavior.

  • Each chapter begins with a Case History, which describes an episode involving a neurological disorder or an issue in neuroscience. Other case histories are included in the text of the chapters.
  • Accurate, visually-stunning art results in clearer, more consistent and more student-friendly illustrations than any other physiology textbook.
  • Clear, well-researched writing continues to be applauded by both students and instructors.

Pedagogical Features

  • Interim Summaries follow each major section of the book. They not only provide useful reviews, but also break each chapter into manageable chunks.
  • Definitions of Key Terms are printed in the margin near the places where the terms are first discussed.
  • Pronunciation Guides for terms that might be difficult to pronounce are also found there.
  • Suggested Readings at the end of each chapterprovide more information about the topics discussed in the chapter.

New To This Edition

  • The art in this book continues to evolve. With the collaboration of Jay Alexander of I-Hua Graphics, we have revised the existing art and prepared new art to illustrate research that is described for the first time in this edition. The result is a set of up-to-date, clear, consistent, and attractive illustrations.
  • The animations that previously were included on a CD are now included in MyPsychKit, www.mypsychkit.com, which also includes practice tests, customized study plans, tutorials, and Web links.
