• A tighter integration between the Activity Manual and the textbook by Billstein et al. (A Problem Solving Approach to Mathematics for Elementary School Teachers, Tenth Edition) is made possible by call-outs in the main text that direct instructors to specific activities in the Activity Manual. This is ideal for instructors who are integrating the Activity Manual into the course for the first time, as well as for experienced instructors.
• Chapter 1, An Introduction to Problem Solving, has been reorganized to put mathematics and problem solving first, followed by an expanded section on exploration with patterns.
• Chapter 4, Algebraic Thinking, is new to this edition, and addresses to the greater emphasis on learning and teaching algebra throughout the elementary school curriculum.
• Chapter 8, Proportional Reasoning, Percents, and Applications, is a new chapter that will be particularly useful for future middle-school teachers.
• Chapter 7, Decimals and Real Number, has been shortened with the introduction of Chapter 8.
• Other chapters have been updated to reflect content updates in the textbook by Billstein et al.
