Updated content and data throughout -- For the most current and clear explanations, the authors have revised data to reflect recent findings, and rewritten portions of the text for even greater clarity.
Significant revision of Chapter 2 “Minerals: Building Blocks of Rocks" -- Revised, rewritten, and expanded, this chapter now focuses on the geologic definition of minerals and mineral properties including a clearer understanding of silicates.
A more logical revision to Chapter 6 “Sedimentary Rocks” looks at the importance and origins of sedimentary rock and now includes more complete sections on Dolostone and Coal.
Chapter 8 “Mass Wasting” begins with a new section that focuses on landslides as natural disasters. A case study on the landslide hazards at La Conchita, California is also new.
