Concise, clear explanation. The clarity of the explanations for principles and rules of grammar a helps students understand the content of each chapter without overwhelming them.
“Writer's Tips” feature. Writing advice boxes run throughout the text to provide students with useful writing advice.
Writing assignments. Two, full writing assignments in each chapter give students more practice with "real" writing.
“Grammar Rules” boxed feature. Called out for easy reference, this feature draws students’ attention to important grammar rules throughout each chapter.
Summary-providing checklists. More than bullets points, these checklists give a summary of important and complex grammar rules.
Richness of exercises. A large number and variety of exercises to allow professors to adjust to suit student comprehension level.
"Find the Error" activity. Students are challenged to identify grammatical errors in examples pulled from actual news headlines, advertisements, and excerpts.
“Focus on Writing” feature. To help students place grammar skills in the context of longer pieces, each chapter discusses a specific aspect of writing–such as organization, coherence, and revision.
