In addition, this text provides extensive instruction on using the TI-83 and TI-84 Plus (and Silver Edition) calculators for statistics, with information on calculator functions, images of screen displays, and projects designed exclusively for the calculator.

Elementary Statistics Using the Graphing Calculator is written for a one-semester introductory statistics course in which the TI-83 or TI-84 Plus graphing calculator is used. It is appropriate for students majoring in any field. Completion of an elementary algebra course is recommended, but not required, because the use of algebra in the text is minimal.

The CD-ROM included with new copies of the textbook includes all of the data sets from Appendix B as a TI-83 Plus APP, separate TI programs for Multiple Regression and Two-Way Analysis of Variance, and STATDISK (Windows^® and Macintosh^®) statistical software for instructors who want to supplement the calculator.
StatCrunch, a powerful online tool that provides a hands-on way to do statistics, is also available with this book and may be used to supplement the calculator. Students can use StatCrunch for both numerical and graphical data analysis, taking advantage of interactive graphics to help them see the connection between objects selected in a graph and the underlying data. StatCrunch is available in the MyStatLab course.

In this edition, Triola identifies the Top 20 Topics that are essential in an introductory statistics course. These topics are identified with an icon in the text. Students using MyStatLab have access to additional resources that link these topics to definitions, animations, and video lessons.
More small data sets: This edition has many more exercises that involve small data sets making homework and in-class exercises more manageable.
Many new exercises and examples: 68% of the exercises and 66% of the examples are new.
Statistical Literacy and Critical Thinking Exercises begin each exercise set to promote statistical literacy and encourage critical thinking.
Answers from Technology: For all numerical answers, both table and technology results are provided.
In the appropriate worked examples, solutions begin with a formal Requirement Check that verifies that a particular method is to be used.
The Visualizing Data section has been divided into two sections, (2-3) Histograms and (2-4) Statistical Graphics, with an increased emphasis on statistical graphics.
Chapter 2 material has been divided into two chapters: Chapter 2, Summarizing and Graphing Data, and Chapter 3, Statistics for Describing, Exploring, and Comparing Data, allowing even more flexibility in course planning.

Mario F. Triola is a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics at Dutchess Community College, where he has taught statistics for over 30 years. Marty is the author of Elementary Statistics, 10th Edition, Elementary Statistics Using Excel, Elementary Statistics Using the TI-83 84 Plus Calculator, and he is a co-author of Biostatistics for the Biological and Health Sciences, Statistical Reasoning for Everyday Life and Business Statistics. He has written several manuals and workbooks for technology supporting statistics education. Outside of the classroom, Marty has been a speaker at many conferences and colleges. His consulting work includes the design of casino slot machines and fishing rods, and he has worked with attorneys in determining probabilities in paternity lawsuits, identifying salary inequities based on gender, analyzing disputed election results, analyzing medical data, and analyzing medical school surveys. Marty has testified as an expert witness in New York State Supreme Court. The Text and Academic Authors Association has awarded Mario F. Triola a “Texty” for Excellence for his work on Elementary Statistics.
