For use as a supplement in Early Childhood Curriculum, Introduction to ECE, or other content area courses in Early Childhood.

This DVD consists of 8 videos on the following subjects: Literacy, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Creative Arts, Music and Movement, Technology, and an additional segment on Integrated Curriculum, to show students how to incorporate several content areas into themes and lessons. Each video was filmed in various early childhood centers and schools in the Miami, Florida area.  Segments range from 5 to 9 minutes in length.  It features a Spanish/English language option, and also a chapter selection menu for each section of the video, such as those you see on DVD movies.  This compilation provides students with the opportunity to see what they are reading about in their coursework and gain a deeper understanding of their role, and becomes very useful for instructors who want to replay a 1-2 min. segment to reinforce concepts and important curricular components with students.

• Video segments show children from infancy through kindergarten engaged in child-centered, play-based, standards-based, developmentally appropriate learning activities. Many of the segments center around one central activity, with other shorter related or everyday activities depicted.  Provides students with an understanding of how to teach children flexibly, but within a plan and with an understanding of content area concepts.  
• Narration tracks are available in Spanish and English on the same DVD. Users choose the language in which they would like to hear the narration of the video.  
• Videos depict children talking, experimenting, playing, writing, manipulating materials, and engaged in learning. Real classroom teachers are included in short clips talking about activities they implement, to give students an authentic view of how to implement curriculum in early childhood classrooms today. In addition, some early childhood professors are shown on video discussing content and learning.
• Key concepts in each content area are addressed (e.g., such as numbers, measurement, and geometry in early childhood mathematics) to provide students with a familiarization of the foundations of each discipline.
