Description

The Chemistry of Life CD-ROM for Introductory Chemistry is a lively tutorial intended to teach the essential concepts of chemistry to students encountering the subject for the first time, as well as those needing a thorough review before continuing with their science or allied health coursework. Using a highly interactive format, The Chemistry of Life CD-ROM for Introductory Chemistry explains and illustrates crucial concepts and principles such as atomic structure, properties of water, gases, pH, buffers, enzyme function, and the structure and function of macromolecules. Learning is reinforced by presenting students with animations, encouraging interaction, then testing their grasp of the material with interactive quizzes.

Features

  • Clear, high-quality animations and interactive simulations make complex chemical principles understandable. Photos further engage students as they illustrate how chemistry relates to all living things.
  • Interactive quizzes and a final exam give immediate feedback to all responses and link students back to related content. A quiz is available for each lesson topic, which can also be used to test students' overall understanding of concepts prior to beginning each lesson. The comprehensive final exam can be used to measure students' overall understanding, or as an initial diagnostic to guide their course of study. Quiz and exam results can be tracked over time to record increased understanding and note subjects where further review is needed.
  • An electronic lesson navigator helps orient users to the product. For each lesson topic, students can see a preview of the screen, read the objective, and reference a list of available information, all on one easy-to-use screen.
  • A beautifully illustrated glossary/index provides additional reference material with links to related lessons.
  • An electronic notebook feature allows students to copy and paste text from anywhere in the product into their notebook as well as record additional thoughts or questions. As with all material on the CD-ROM, the notebook can be printed out for use by the student.
  • Textbook references correlate lessons to all major life science and allied health textbooks.
