New to This Edition

The fifth edition of Automotive Brake Systems was updated and expanded due to meet the following needs:

1. Expanded content and new a chapter that cover the systems that are new and being used in most, if not all, vehicles sold today.
2. To meet the latest NATEF tasks requirements.
3. To improve the readability of the text to improve student learning
4. To improve teaching of these complex topics

To meet these requirements, the author has included the following changes to the new edition:

• An entirely new interior design that makes it easy for the reader to see the main headings as well as all of the subheadings.
• Full color used throughout to help bring the subject to life and makes reading and studying the material easier.
• Increased the number of chapters from 20 in the fourth edition to 21 in the new fifth edition.
• A new chapter, Electronic Stability Control Systems, chapter 21, was added to meet the needs for training on these systems.
• The fifth edition of Automotive Brake Systems is organized around the ASE automobile test content area for Brakes (A5)
